Who is ryback the wrestler

As a former intercontinental champion and one of the most popular WWE Superstars in the company at one point, Ryback is now venturing out on his own and trying to build his brand by his own rules.

Not only has Ryback become one of the hottest names on the independent wrestling scene since his departure from WWE, but he has also started his own podcast, wrote a book and launched a line of nutritional products.

In a recent interview promoting his new book, Wake Up! While there is no denying that WWE helped build his mainstream appeal, Ryback has taken his future into his own hands and is building an empire without anyone's help.

When asked about the most rewarding experience of his career thus far, Ryback spoke honestly. By far it was the greatest day of my career," Ryback said. I equate it to The Shawshank Redemption , that I was finally released. I did it on my own terms and conditions. Ryback deserves to have a chip on his shoulder. After using the opportunity WWE presented him to get over organically with wrestling fans, his character was altered, and his storylines were dropped.

They went out of their way to run me into the ground. I allowed the damage to happen to live my dream, but when that dream started becoming a nightmare, I knew I had to get away. Quiz: Can you pick the '90s wrestling superstar from a random fact? As for highlights during his run with WWE, Ryback admitted that winning the Intercontinental title at Elimination Chamber in remains atop his list, though not because there was a belt around his waist. It was all-out chaos trying to communicate with that many people when things were horribly wrong with the pod breaking open.

It was a really cool moment, especially with Daniel Bryan there, who is one of my good friends. Those are the guys who see your effort day in and day out, and that moment with those guys was the best thing that ever happened to me.

I was very touched by the moment. I delivered them exactly as I was supposed to deliver them, but the writing was so out of touch. I used to tell Vince that all the time.

People criticized my conditioning. I am insane about my conditioning, and I take pride in being a machine out there and going no matter what. I take a lot of pride in having a great mind for this business.

I would love to wrestle Goldberg and it would be huge money. Trust me, I have. Ryback worked with Kevin Owens during his Intercontinental title reign, and he has plenty of respect for the newly minted Universal champion. I got to be around Kevin and his son Owen quite a bit, and he is a really good kid, which says a lot about how he was raised. He goes out and does his job very, very well. That was his professional reply to me after asking a serious question about my life and taking some time off so I could get this stuff started.

I was met with that reply, which does not help my case with how I feel about them. Ryback also wrote a motivational book entitled Wake Up! The podcast has also given me a platform with my best friend, Pat Buck, and we talk about wrestling and life. Ryback revealed he has suffered from testosterone issues dating back to when he first used steroids, which is why his passion outside of wrestling is creating quality nutritional products like his all natural testosterone booster.

People react differently, and it shut my body down and never came back. The WWE has the Wellness Program, and I will applaud them time and time again for bringing that in and saving a lot of lives with that program. You need to have all the blood work with multiple samples showing that your body is not producing adequate levels of testosterone. Through that, I was able to have a normal, regular testosterone replacement therapy dosage during my time there to keep me within the normal range.

It was monitored by WWE and my doctor, as well as the Wellness Program tests and blood tests and urine tests. Kurt Angle opens up about addiction, possible return to WWE. Rumors have persisted that Ryback was headed to New Japan, and he is willing to do so — permitting the dates allow him to return home to get back to work.

There is nobody in the world like me, and I would more than welcome going anywhere and meeting the fans. The return to the ring is so meaningful for Ryback, as he remains grateful for the opportunity to interact with the men, women, and children who support pro wrestling. He also played college baseball during his freshman year at the Community College of Southern Nevada, but broke his leg and ended up missing two seasons. Reeves attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and entered in its fitness management program.

Reeves spent the next two years concentrating on training to enter professional wrestling. During the first week of training, Reeves suffered from bronchitis and a rib injury. He eventually became one of the eight finalists to appear on SmackDown! Even though he did not win the competition, Reeves impressed WWE officials enough for them to sign him to a developmental contract.

He spent time healing from his injuries in Las Vegas before heading to Atlanta, Georgia in March According to Reeves, he had been taking several over the counter bodybuilding supplements, one of which inadvertently caused a false reading. The supplements he was using were later taken off the market due to this effect and, although his suspension remained in place, Reeves eventually returned to the roster after passing a second test.

After his previous 30 day suspension, Reeves returned while sporting bleached hair. The two did not fare well against the trio losing both tag team and single matches to them during the next few weeks.

On October 18 , he and Bolen also lost to them in a handicap match. As a result of their victory, they were allowed five minutes alone with Shawn Osbourne but he was able to escape with the help of Craven and Kruel. Reeves also took part in a four-way Elimination Christmas Present match with Kruel four days later.

This was their last match together as Reeves was officially released from his contract less than two weeks later. In his first match since returning, he managed to win the Heavyweight Championship on October 15 , by defeating Anthony Bravado. After wrestling Bravado to a double count-out on October 22 and thus retaining the title, he ultimately lost the title to Bravado on October Ryback soon formed a tag team with Sheamus O'Shaunessy and the duo unsuccessfully challenged for the Florida Tag Team Championship on a few occasions until O'Shaunessy was called up to the main roster.

Although Montel Vontavious Porter was originally to be his mentor, or "pro", he was later replaced by William Regal. He was one of three eliminations that same night, behind Bryan and Michael Tarver , and said he would be back.

On the June 7 episode of Raw , Sheffield along with the other NXT season one rookies, interfered in the main event match between John Cena and CM Punk , attacking both competitors as well as the announcing team before dismantling the ring area and surrounding equipment. The following week, the group was named The Nexus.

Sheffield eliminated both John Morrison and R-Truth from the match before becoming the third member of the Nexus to be eliminated. Ultimately, the Nexus lost the match. Reeves then underwent extensive surgery after breaking his ankle, with a third surgery being his last. Reeves returned from injury at a Raw house show on December 3, Reeves, now sporting a beard and a new attire, returned to television on the April 6, , episode of SmackDown , under his Ryback ring name and as a face.
